Dr Donald Low: Making the Case for Dying with Dignity

Dr Donald Low, the public face of the SARS crisis, when only 44 Canadians died, made this appeal eight days before he died

“Charlie Lewis says that the painful death recently experienced by Dr. Donald Low, pictured, does not give Dr. Low the moral high ground. That’s true. But by the same token, Charlie’s suffering doesn’t give him the moral high ground, either.” Matt Gurney, responding in the National Post today, September 30, to a piece by his colleague Charles Lewis. Canada has to change the law on this someday. Meanwhile, voluntary dehydration looks like a legal option.
